Project: Building an Orphanage
Currently, 13 children live in tents on the campus of Bishop Forson School Complex. They lived in tents until last March wen the raian and winds destroyed their 'home'. Now they are living in a temporary structure - a classroom still under construction.
Setting: Bishop Forson School Complex
Goals of the Project:
- Build an orphanage/boarding facility to house 60 children. This includes bathroom, clean running water, electricity and suitable sleeping accommodations.
- Facility would be clean, well managed and safe.
- Self-funding for running the facility will be part of Pagus:Africa’s ongoing mandate and part of the overall business plan for the school.
- This facility will also provide boarding for those from across the lake where there is currently no access to a quality education.
Project Specifics :
- Urgent need for housing for three girls, ten boys and a full time caregiver. For $14,000 we could build two rooms that would house them in the short term and later be converted to extra classrooms once a permanent structure it built.
- For approximately $40,000 we could build a permanent facilty as outlined under Projects.
- Clean water to be piped to the school. Rainwater would be harvested.
