About the Bishop Forson School Complex
Overall Goals of Pagus:Africa in association with the Bishop Forson School Complex:
- To assist the school in providing a quality education to children from Pre K-12 in this region.
- To provide services for needy children in the community. These include housing and care, food, medical services, and a quality education.
- To create a caring community focused on service and possibility. A big part of the curriculum includes focus on how children give back to their communities and the importance of self-reliance and personal responsibility. It is our belief that this focus can have a profound and lasting impact.
- To promote community awareness and inspire parents of school children to contribute to continual improvement of their school.
- To assist the school to be economically viable for the future.
School Background
The Bishop Forson School Complex was officially opened on Monday September 8, 2003 with six teachers and eight pupils. The school provides a quality education to all children without regard to gender, religion or ethnic background. The children live in the rural and deprived communities in the Kpando District along the Volta Lake. 15 children currently live on campus in temporary housing.
The school was founded by Mr. Glover Forson, who grew up in a rural community and faced many challenges in his quest for an education. Now that he has achieved success as a farmer and a business man, Mr. Forson is able to work on what matters to him most, a school for needy children who were previously denied access to a quality education, and preparation to build an orphanage.

teachers. Breakfast is given to pupils free of charge. Free lunch is
given to teachers as incentive and it costs school pupils only ¢ 2,000
cedis (US $.03). It must be noted that the Director has heavily subsidized
the lunch and it could have cost each pupil an amount of ¢ 5,000

WATER
A poly tank, as well as other containers have been provided for the storage of clean water for cooking and drinking until such time as funds are available to pipe in town water.
HEALTH:
First Aid is given to pupils who are ill. If the situation is beyond First Aid, they are referred to the nearest clinic or hospital in Kpando which is about 7km from the school. A 12-seat KVIP (toilet) has also been provided. Children learn the importance of good hygiene. TRANSPORTATION:

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and Hapag Lloyd, we were been able send this beautiful bus to the school for the 2007-08 term!
FUTURE PLANS:
Short Term Plans
- Complete the ground and first floors of the storey building
- Addition of a library and computer lab (will be part of the storey building)
- The provision of musical instruments for the introduction of teaching and learning music
- A school farm project to effectively take care of the food needs of the school.
- Boarding House for 60 students - to provide accommodations for those living far away, and also to provide for orphans and abused children
Long Term Plans
It is our mission to positively impact the lives of children living in deprived rural communities who otherwise would be denied a quality education. We are working to help this community by operating a school complex from the pre-school to the secondary, commercial and vocational levels. We hope to further serve the community by taking in additional orphans and by providing health services on the grounds.
